First aid course at ISL

We are raising 3400 euros to facilitate a first aid course at our high school, the International School Laren. Students will be certified to perform the most important basic first aid skills. It is of high importance that the younger generation is able to take action in crucial situations. The course be 8 hours, and will include the following: Resuscitation and AED, intense bleedings, drowning, strokes, unconsciousness, burns, skin wounds, injuries to muscles, bones and joints, neck and spinal injuries, chest pain, poisoning and choking.

When Claire was staying at her grandparents at the age of 13, there was a loud sound from upstairs. Her grandpa had suffered a cardiac arrest. At that moment she dint know what to do of course she knew she had to call 112, but had no clue what she could do apart from that. Because of the help of neighbours that were able to perform first aid, Claire's grandpa survived. In this case it went well, although it is often when this is not the case. That is why we find it important to facilitate first aid courses at high school. This allows children to learn from an early age how to respond and contribute in these crucial moments.

Wij hopen 3400 euro op te halen om een ehbo cursus te faciliteren op onze middelbare school, de International School Laren. Studenten zullen gecertificeerd zijn om de belangrijkste basis ehbo-vaardigheden uit te voeren. Het is van hoogbelang dat de jongere generatie actie kan ondernemen in cruciale situaties. De cursus is 8 uur en zal de volgende vaardigheden behandelen: Reanimatie & AED, bloedingen, verdrinken, beroerte, bewusteloosheid, brandwonden, huidwonden, Letsels aan spieren, botten en gewrichten, Nek- en wervelletsel, pijn op de borstkas, vergiftiging and verslikking.

Toen Claire op dertienjarige leeftijd aan het logeren was bij mijn opa en oma, klonk er een hard geluid van boven. Haar opa had een hartstiltand gekregen. Op dat moment was zij radeloos, ze wist natuurlijk dat ze 112 moest bellen, maar ze had verder geen idee wat ze moest doen en hoe ze kon helpen. Door mensen in de buurt, die eerste hulp konden verlenen, heeft Claire haar opa het overleefd. In dit geval is het goed verlopen, maar er zijn vaak situaties wanneer dit niet goed verloopt. Daarom vinden wij het belangrijk om EHBO lessen te faciliteren bij ons op school. Hierdoor kunnen kinderen vanaf een jonge leeftijd leren hoe ze moeten reageren en hoe ze kunnen bijdragen in dit soort noodsituaties.
